Marcus Siotkas is a New York State certified school counselor. As a school counselor, Marcus handles a total case load of nearly 300 students and works with approximately 100 juniors and seniors on an annual basis. He guides them through the entire admissions process, which includes exploratory college search, college visits, developing relationships with target schools, essays, interviews and application strategy. Marcus empowers students to think about college admissions from a long-term perspective to ensure “best fit”. He guides students through tasks such as meeting deadlines, completing required admissions documents and troubleshooting online applications. In addition, Marcus assists students with special interests and talents such as sports, music, fine arts, business and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) to find select programs within universities.
His goal is to help students transition smoothly from secondary to post-secondary schooling. Marcus earned his Master’s in Counseling from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, and belongs to numerous organizations including NACAC, ASCA, WPRCA. He stays current with the admissions process by visiting over 20 colleges each year, networking with admissions personnel and maintaining a steady diet of higher education literature and admissions data analysis.
